Human Developing Unit
Over millennia, the Human Developing Unit (HDU), the command module of a Human Birth System (HBS), sustained and refined human development in Home Acelines. Within it, microscopic to nanoscale Automateans assembled embryos and constructed their growth environment, following pre-coded blueprints to perfect the birthing process.
Evolving through the ages, the HDU advanced through four birth mechanisms: Birth Mill, Birth Disc, Birth Core, and Birth Orb, each marking a technological era.

{ Birth Mill }
In A1999 (Acelinian year), after the Fuaamulaan invasion decimated two-thirds of the global population, the World Assembly in Home Acelines issued the first World Citizenship Decree--legalizing artificial human reproduction and mandating that all states recognize humans created through approved systems.
Birth Mill, invented nearly a century ago, was eagerly adopted by many states as the primary mechanism for large-scale human creation.
It was an immense, horizontally oriented, mill-shaped structure connected by a communication pipe to a system's central tower. Inside, it housed up to thousands of segmented chambers, each serving as a controlled environment for individual gestation.
In early systems such as the Acelinian Birth System (A.B.S.), the embryo was referred to as a "seed", refined from a natural human zygote.
To accelerate development, all seeds within a single Birth Mill were shaped into the same general human form, governed by continuous, serialized instructions transmitted from the central tower. Meanwhile, individuality was delicately infused into each developing human by pre-coded micro-Automateans, following precise specifications.
Over time, the Birth Mill struggled to keep pace with growing demands for increasingly complex human designs at scale, hindered by its core reliance on serial transmission.
This flaw became most evident in the final system using the Birth Mill: Synthesis Human Birth System (S.H.B.S.), which built humans from submatter rather than seeds. The process required massive computational data, often overwhelming the system and corrupting entire embryo batches.
{ Birth Disc }
After serving for millennia, the Birth Mill reached its developmental ceiling, pushing elite Acelinian scientists worldwide into arduous years of experimentation before creating the Birth Disc--a design built for next-generation breakthroughs.
Extending from the central birth tower via a communication pipeline, the Birth Disc was a wide, fluid-filled platform containing micronano Automateans with the intelligence to interpret target instructions, plan human construction from submatter, and actively regulate internal gestational conditions.
Metasynthesis Human Birth System (M.H.B.S.) was the first recognized HBS to operate with the Phase-1 Birth Disc. Thanks to its design featuring blistering parallel-communication channels, each disc could grow two or four embryos simultaneously, while independently monitoring and adapting to each embryo's condition.
Anthroplus Human Birth System (A.H.B.S.) was the last HBS integrated with the latest Birth Disc mechanism, which employed Phase-2 and Phase-3 technology, enabling it to support 16 to 32 embryos simultaneously. This advancement sharply outpaced the old Birth Mill's serial design, significantly boosting human production while minimizing the unavoidable flaws inherent in its predecessor.

{ Birth Core }
Expertly engineered by the Earthling genius Dr. Talen Le Brun, it was used exclusively in the Perfect Acelinian Sopholife System (P.A.S.S.)--a non-mass-production system that operated for only four years, the shortest lifespan among all others.
Only three prototypes, known as "Perfect Acelinians", were ever created: Zenna, Meva, and Luvia Acelines--the fewest humans produced by any birth system. Yet the Birth Core remained the most sophisticated birth mechanism, influencing the design methodologies of all subsequent systems.
Residing in the innermost part of P.A.S.S., the Birth Core was a three-floor, high-precision, gigantic spherical chamber that enclosed the growing embryo in an automated gestational environment--featuring visual and sonic surveillance to ensure flawless human formation in a secure, threat-free developmental zone.
Unlike earlier mass-production HDUs that could not be customized, the Birth Core allowed individual fine-tuning, as it was made for highly precise personalized embryonic development. Throughout the developmental period of the three Perfect Acelinians, Dr. Talen implemented 32 refinements to the Birth Core--8 for Zenna, 10 for Meva, and 14 for Luvia.
The Birth Core's integration with P.A.S.S. turned it into a highly complex gestational eco-module, requiring deep customization to function within the unique architecture of the system. This tight coupling became a major drawback for adapting it to other birth systems--one of the key reasons why global elite scientists spent almost two decades fully decoding and reengineering it to be compatible with Acelinian-style mass-production systems.
{ Birth Orb }
Forged through the exhaustive efforts of the finest Acelinian scientists worldwide, the Birth Orb was a miniaturized adaptation of the Birth Core--the latest birth mechanism designed for mass production. It housed compact life-nurturing modules within a gestational sphere, linked to a birth system's control tower--often connecting dozens or even hundreds of orbs for coordinated human creation.
